- You can find a new pump by searching for your washing machines brand and model number online.
- Pro tip: Model numbers are usually stamped on a small metal plate located under the tub lid or on the top, side or back of the machine. Copy down all the plate information and use it to access online parts suppliers, or take it along to the parts distributor.

Manually Drain The Washer
As I mentioned before, the first thing you need to do is get rid of the wastewater. You can either manually remove the drain hose or perform a master reset to force the appliance to expel the dirty water.
However, these are just quick hacks to drain water manually in case of emergencies. I strongly discourage using these tricks as an alternative to proper washer repairs and parts replacements.

Set Up The Bucket And Drain Hose
Ensure that the bucket is in a place where you wont accidentally knock it over you may want to place it firmly on or between several towels. Then, drop the house lower than the washer tub and into the bucket. If the bucket fills up, simply raise the hose back above the washer tub until you can empty the bucket. Drop the hose to start to fill it again.
If water doesnt flow freely from the washing machine tub through the drain hose and into the bucket, the filter may be blocked, so youll need to clear it before continuing.
How Do I Reset My Kenmore Elite Washer
The Kenmore washing machine does not have a reset button. Remove your machine from the power supply for 5-10 minutes to reset the washer by unplugging your machine or turning off the power at the breaker switch.
Wait the 5-10 minutes needed for all the electrical charge to leave your washing machine. Plug your washing machine into the electric socket again or turn the power on at the breaker switch.

Check For Clogs In The Drain Hose Or Pump:
A sock or other small clothing piece sometimes gets caught in the drain system and clogs the hose or Pump. Displace the front panel of the washer and investigate these fields for any obstructions. If you notice it, take it out and see if the washing machine can drain.
If you remove the hose to clear an obstruction from the Pump, all of the water in the washer will spill out. Before disconnecting the hose, scoop out as much water from the drum as possible to prevent a mess.
Improperly Positioned Washer Drain

The first thing you need to check is the height of your washer drain. Ideally, the drain hose should be standing 30 inches from the base level. Most of the time, the drain hose slowly gets pushed too deep into the valve due to daily use. A simple fix would be to pull the hose up a few inches.
However, if the hose is at the proper height, you might want to check for signs of damages. Dont hesitate to get a part replacement if you notice any visible signs of deterioration such as stretching, cracking, or ruptures.

Remove And Check The Drain Hose
Behind the washer, you will find the drain hose. Its connected to the appliance at one end while the other goes into a drain pipe that leads out of your house. First, verify that the hose isnt pinched or kinked anywhere, then pull the hose out of the pipe and inspect it for clogs.
If you find any debris, you should most definitely remove it. Then, set everything back up, turn the water and electricity back on and try starting your washer again. If the clog was the problem, it should now drain. If it still doesnt drain, or if you didnt find a clog, then make sure the power and water supply are shut off again before proceeding to the next step.
Damaged Water Pump Belt
Dismantle the back panel flap of your washer to reveal the water pump belt. Assess it by hand. Check if the belt shows severe signs of physical deterioration, cracking, and stretching.
If you decide its time to get a parts replacement, start by unscrewing the mounting bolt holding the pump belt upbut dont fully remove the bolts yet. Afterward, tilt the machine down a bit and remove the hoses connected to the water pump. Make sure theres a bucket underneath to catch all the excess water. After draining the remaining water, fully remove the bolts and dismantle the water pump.
Replace the belt with a new, durable one like 131686100 Washer Drive Belt by AppliaFit. Its a durable, high-quality, and easy-to-install aftermarket replacement part compatible with most Kenmore washers.

Inspect The Washing Machine Belts
If you have completed every step and still find that your washing machine wont drain, check if damaged belts are the cause of your drain problem. The manufacturers washing machine instruction manual should indicate the location of the belts. To check your belts, unscrew your washing machines access panel and check the main belt and the pump belt. Be on the lookout for any corroded, broken, or otherwise damaged parts.
Too Much Detergent While Using
If your Kenmore Series 70 is draining after usage, but it is going very slow, then you might have an easy fix. Using too much detergent can make your washer very delayed in draining and can make it seem like it has something wrong with it. If you are experiencing this, try to use half the detergent amount the next time you use your washer and see if it drains much more effectively.

@button if the washer won’t drain water the drain pump might be defective. It’s also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.
I would remove the drain plug from the filter at the water pump.
I would start by taking the lower front panel off. There are two bolts, one on each side of the panel, remove those. Once you have the panel removed, you will see a white plastic unit, that is your pump assembly. You should also see a round plug with a plastic tab across the front . That is your coin trap. Open the cap by twisting it counterclockwise and remove it. It may just be clogged. Make sure that you have a large tub or something under it. there is a lot of water coming at you.
You can download the service manual from from here.
The service manual will tell you how to run the diagnostics test so you can check to see if any error code is tripped.

Inspect The Drain Hose
This is the first thing to check when your Kenmore washer fails to drain the water. The drain hose is where the used water is pumped out of the washer.
If the drain hose is clogged, it wont be able to pump the water out. Most of the time, people forget to take items out of their pockets before throwing clothes into the washer, blocking the drain hose.
To check the drain hose, first, disconnect your Kenmore washer from the power source. Then, access the drain hose and check it for any clogs or obstructions. If there is any, remove it.

The Air Gap Is Clogged
Solution: Some dishwashers use air gaps to prevent dirty water from backing up and contaminating your dishes. If one gets clogged, it can impact the appliances ability to drain. To tell if your dishwasher has an air gap, look for a small silver cylinder sitting by your faucet. If you have one, check to see if its clogged by removing the top cover and pulling straight up. Then, depending on the design, unscrew or release the tabs on the inner cap. Remove any debris or food buildup that may have accumulated and then reassemble the air gap.
Check Your Machines Inner Workings

If the hose drains when placed in the bucket, its time to check the machines inner workings for problems. This includes examining the drain pump, the lid switch, the belts and the water level control .
The drain pump is likely behind a panel that can be removed with a screwdriver. After you remove the drain pump, examine it for debris or obstructions and make sure the moving parts move freely. Sometimes simply cleaning the pump will do the trick. If nothing appears to be wrong with the pump, check to make sure all belts are in place and intact.
Find the lid switch and press it down while holding the lid open. The switch should click into place. If it doesnt, or if it seems loose, it may need replacing. Continue to check other parts of your machine. You may also find it helpful to look at the user manual.
The manual may have additional troubleshooting tips specific to your machine. Top load washers and front load washers have very different configurations, for example. If you dont feel comfortable messing with your machines insides, you might also call a washer repair technician at this point.

How do I get my Kenmore washer to drain? If you are asking yourself this question, then this post is meant for you. The Kenmore 70 series are washers and dryers from one of the biggest appliance manufacturers. They include a top-loading unit and large capacity drums.
Although Kenmore does not manufacture Kenmore Series 70 anymore, you can still buy the washer and the replacement parts from third-party vendors. If your washer is not draining, the first thing you need to do is locate the problem.
Is It The Drain Hose Thats Causing The Problem
Likely, the hose that transfers water from the back of the unit stops it from draining properly. A kink could obstruct the water flow through the washing machine hose, or the device could be stuck too close to the wall, blocking water flow through the hose. Its also possible that the hose has become clogged. Disconnect the drain hose and look inside with a spotlight for any difficulties.
If you cant reach whats clogging the drain, take it outside and run water through it with a garden hose. Then, reconnect the drainpipe to the machine, switch on the power, and run the rinse cycle to notice if the water is removing correctly.
