Yeti Roadie 24 Drain Plug

Conditions That Could Cause Plugging

The New YETI Roadie® 24 Hard Cooler

Roots are drawn to tiles that run water constantly or for extended duration into the growing season. This water flow can usually be observed at the rile outlet.

Depth to the water table can vary from one season to the next and is dependent upon seasonal rainfall patterns. Tiles that are dry during average growing seasons may have late flow of water during wet seasons. A field location with wet tile will be a risky area to establish any tree species, since plugging by roots may eventually occur.

Ware:may run thr.ough sections of field drainage later mto the growmg season without the farmer realizing. Tile can drain water from an up-slope, wet area or from a spring. However, as the water makes its way down the tile to drier areas, the water can leave the tile through perforations. The water can re-enter the soil in another area before reaching the drain outlet. In these situations, and unknown to a farmer, trees planted close to riles that have standing or flowing water could cause root plugging problems.

At a low field elevation, roots plugging a rile may encourage the proliferation of roots of other trees upstream in the line, since water remains in the rile upstream of the plug.

Best Ice Chest Drain Plug Replacements

Original YETI Drain Plug

Coleman has two main types of drain plugs: the standard one and the one that goes on their 50, 58 and 82 Quart Coleman Xtreme Coolers.

Both of these are plastic and have a plastic link to prevent losing the drain cap. The entire kit consists of a drain spout, a gasket, and the drain cap itself.

The problem is that the plastic link can easily get destroyed by wear and tear and the cap can get lost as a result. Thats why its good to have the replacements on hand.

Be sure to buy the right one for your cooler.

Hefty Hauler Rope Handle

Yeti have redesigned the handle for the Roadie and replaced the old pull up metal handle which clicked into place with an attached rope handle which has a rubber grip for easy carrying.

This reduces weight from the cooler but also the feedback is that this handle is actually better than the old one. Because it moves and flexes with you it make the cooler much easier to carry with one hand.

Here’s what one customer had to say:

Love the new color and the strap handle design. It’s a huge upgrade from the metal bar on the Roadie 20.

Another customer said this:

The handle is much less annoying that the lock-in-place stiff metal bar of the 20, but still not ultra functional to carry this cooler a quarter mile to a docked boat, into a kid’s soccer game, or a half mile or more to a favorite fishing spot to double as a seat..Plus there are grab points under the rim making it pleasant to carry with both hands

So the handle isn’t perfect and still has some issues. Carry a heavy cooler is always going to be difficult and while a shoulder strap may have been better this seems like a decent design.

You’ve got the rope handle when it’s empty or only partially filled and then you’ve got molded in side handle to 2 hand carrying or carrying with a friend when the cooler is fully loaded.

Farm Tile Drains And Tree Roots

Trees grown on agricultural land can be both profitable and useful, whether in fruit and nut orchards, plantations and woodlots or as windbreaks, treed fence rows, stream buffers, shelter for pastures, farm buildings or reforested land.

When planting trees on farms with subsurface tile drainage systems, remember that tree roots can plug tile drains. Design your planting to sustain the use of tile drains without blocking them.

Avoiding Plugged Drainage Tiles

Coolers Archives

Drains that are within 15 m of trees and that carry water for prolonged periods during the growing season may become plugged with tree roots. If possible, remove all water-loving trees, such as willow, soft maple, elm and poplar, for a distance of 30 m from the drain. Give other trees a clearance of 15 m. If it is not possible to remove the tree or reroute the drain, use continuous non-perforated pipe for a distance of 15 m on either side of the tree.

Install a header drain at the higher end of an orchard to intercept seepage water that might cause prolonged flow in lateral drains.

Stream buffers

Where trees, shrubs and weeds associated with wet soils are established or are permitted to grow naturally along a watercourse, perforated tile that passes under the buffer to an outlet can quickly become plugged by roots. For field tiles that drain into buffered streams, intermittent watercourses or ditches, install a section of non-perforated tile.

The non-perforated section of tile should extend tfom rhe outlet, pass under the vegerared buffer and continue for at least 15m into the cultivated field where it can then connect to standard perforated pipe. Roots will nor peneuate non-perforated pipe. This solution provides both worry-free drainage of field water and the added benefits of buffered vegetared watercourses.

What Does Bpa Free Mean

This is something youll see a lot when researching bottles. One-time use plastic bottles can contain a chemical known as Bisphenol A that can be harmful to your health. Research shows that BPA can contaminate food and drink, though research also says that low levels of BPA are safe. Still, to ensure your food and drink containers are non-toxic, choose items that do not use Bisphenol A.

When I Threw A Bag Of Ice In My Tundra And My Cheap Cooler The Ice Lasted Longer In My Cheap Cooler Why

A small amount of ice is not a good indicator of how well your ice chest can retain ice due to excess air space within the cooler. Excess air space hurts ice retention. To maximize ice retention, fill your cooler to the top with ice and products. In addition, if the ice chest starts out warm, a small amount of ice could initially melt faster in a YETI cooler than a thinner-walled cooler.

Best ice retention results are achieved by filling the ice chest completely with high-quality ice, which means using block ice thats well below freezing temperature. In addition, maximum ice retention can be attained by pre-chilling your cooler. This will sufficiently cool the insulation and inside of the cooler, which helps the thick polyurethane walls work for you, not against you.

YETI Tundras have up to 3 inches of polyurethane foam insulation, which is significantly more than most common ice chests. If you use enough ice to chill the walls, YETI will most definitely outperform the competition.

Is A Plug In Cooler Worth It

Electric coolers are expensive, in the range of $700 to $1,500 for most. … If you just need to keep beer cold for a day or two or take short weekend trips to the campground, a cooler is probably sufficient. But for those whose trips stretch into weeks and months, this fridge could change the way you manage your food.

What Is A Yeti Tundra Cooler

The YETI Tundra was created to solve the age-old problem of subpar coolers failing in the field. Tired of busted latches, bowed-in lids, and melted ice, brothers Roy and Ryan Seiders set out to make a superior hunting and fishing cooler and YETI was born.

Tundra and Roadie® coolers are rotomolded, which is the same process used to create whitewater kayaks. And we designed the coolers to keep ice longer a lot longer by pumping them with over twice the insulation compared to most ordinary ice chests. The result is a cooler family with a dramatic durability and ice retention advantage over most any other cooler on the market.

Tundras are great for hunting, sport-fishing, camping, boating, rafting, tailgating, paddling, and barbecuing. Oh, and beer drinking, too. Theres even the Tundra 250 and 350 for commercial uses, like oil & gas, construction, and medical industries. The Roadie is BYOBs new best friend.

How To Replace A Cooler Drain Plug

Pin on KeyWhip Board

Replacing a cooler drain plug is quite easy. All you have to do is remove the old one and fit in the new one. Of course, thats the high-level view. The devil is in the details, as it always is.

Removing the older drain plug requires unscrewing it. That may or may not be simple, depending on how tight it is screwed in and the type and extent of the damage.

You should be careful about this and take care to be safe. If youre lucky, the old drain plug isnt there and all you have is a drain plug hole you can screw the new drain plug into.

Once you have the old drain plug out, screw the new one in. Usually, you have to place the gasket in first before you place the spout and finish off with the cap. Its a simple 3-step process.

Baking Soda As A Cleaning Agent

Baking soda is another great option with which to clean your reusable stainless steel water bottle. After all, it has all the anti-microbial properties of vinegar that make it stellar at cracking down on bacteria, without that distinct smell. Speaking of smells, baking soda is known for its ability to cut through harsh odors caused by bacteria, mold, and other funky build-ups.

To clean your stainless steel water bottle with baking soda, youll want to start by making a paste with just two ingredients: water and baking soda. Use a bottle brush to spread the paste inside your bottle, then let it sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse with hot water and let the bottle air dry.

Pro tip: Air drying is often the easiest and most effective way to dry your reusable bottle. Just turn it upside down on a drying rack in your kitchen. If you dont have a drying rack, still turn it upside down, but make sure there is some space between the mouth of the bottle and your counter. You want there to be some air-flow, so maybe lean it on something or suspend part of the mouth over the sink. Otherwise, youll be trapping all that moisture in, creating a breeding ground of grossness all over again.

How Tree Roots Grow In The Soil

Nutrient uptake, water absorption and anchorage are key functions of roots. Roots of trees grow to new areas of soil to increase the root surface area. Roots grow proportionately, in dry weight, with the above-ground tree and maintain a specific root-to-shoot ratio.

Roots of many species of trees, some weeds, and several shrub and crop species can grow close to and within tile drains as they expand their ability to acquire water and nutrients. Back-filled soil loosened by the drainage installation equipment over drainage tiles provides the roots with easy access to the tile through the broken-up soil layers.

Figure 1. Parallel rows of back-filled soil show where tile was recently installed in this field.

Roots do not actively search the soil for moisture and nutrients but grow more vigorously as they randomly encounter more favourable growing conditions, such as increased moisture and nutrient levels.

Root growth conditions can continue to improve until moisture becomes excessive or nutrients reach toxic levels, at which point root growth declines.

The ideal amount of soil moisture or the ideal amount of each nutrient is entirely dependent upon the tree species.

Other soil factors, such as oxygen concentrations and soil particle size, also contribute to ease of root growth.

Yeti Roadie 24 Review

YETI Roadie 24 vs Budget Everbilt Cooler (24hr Ice Test Drop Test Review)

I wasnt always a YETI Roadie fan.

My first experience with a YETI Roadie 20 not the newer 24 was archery elk hunting with a buddy during a particularly hot September. At first, I thought the YETI Roadie 20 was heavy, overbuilt, and couldnt do what my coveted soft coolers could do. I was wrong. It turned out the Roadie 20 did a fantastic job of keeping our lunch and drinks cold all day long even when it got left in the hot cab of a pickup in direct sun.

Better yet, we could throw the rugged YETI Roadie into the bed of a pickup with an ATV and tools and we didnt have to worry about it getting crushed or punctured along the way. The hard-sided Roadie is a worry-free cooler. During several outings in September, I became a Roadie fan.

The new YETI Roadie 24 update retains the same rugged awesomeness of the original, but its now 10 percent lighter and holds 20 percent more food and ice. In addition, YETI says it performs 30 percent better thermally than the Roadie 20.

Those are impressive gains, but youre probably still wondering, is the Roadie 24 right for me?
